The
BPKS Complex is located
at Dhakkhinkhan in Uttara,
Dhaka, Bangladesh [Contact Details]. The
Bangladesh Minister for
Social Welfare opened
the Complex on 30 May
2002.
BPKS
plans to develop the Complex
into a resource centre
for people with disabilities.
It will act as a focal
point for the development
of people with disabilities.
[Plans] The complex has recently undergone new extension work, with a second floor added to the main building and a cafeteria facility adjacent to the assistive device production center.
The complex currently houses departments providing the following services:
- program management and administration
- assistive devices production (ADP) and service centre
- information and communication technology (ICT) training
- training and human resource development
- Women with Disability development
- job placement, networking and advocacy
- documentation and publication
- material development
- therapy
In
the future, it is planned that the complex will also house a research unit
that focuses on disability
and development issues and an
information and materials
development unit to raise
awareness about disability.
The development
of the complex was made
possible by the donation
of land from the Government
of Bangladesh and initial
funding support from the
Government of Japan to
commence building at the
Complex. BPKS would like
to thank both Governments
for their generous assistance.
