PSID activities and services are delivered through the DPOD, DPO or PSID Centre. Activities carried out under PSID include:

  1. A needs assessment is conducted to establish the incidence of disability and the situation of people with disabilities in an area [Members]. This data is used to develop a detailed plan addressing the individual and collective needs of the community.
  2. Basic therapy and training [Therapy] and assistive devices (and training in the proper use of devices) [Assistive Devices] are provided to people with disabilities. Appropriate referrals are also made to medical specialists.
  3. Disability identification and prevention camps are organized and made accessible to the general community. [Health camps and referral services]
  4. Facilitating the access of children with disabilities (CWDs) to the education system. [Children with disabilities]
  5. Grassroots Disabled Peoples' Organizations to Development (GDPODs) and a district-level Disabled Peoples' Organization to Development (DPOD) are established. [Formation and capacity building of DPOs]
  6. The capacity of Women with Disabilities (WWDs) is strengthened. [Women with Disabilities (WWDs)]
  7. Economic development is encouraged. [Income Generating Activities]
  8. A safe and healthy environment is created by installing accessible sanitary latrines and tube wells and providing health education and training. [Safe and Accessible Water and Sanitation facilities]
  9. Training is provided to increase the individual and collective capacity of PWDs. [Training]

  11. Advocacy and lobbying occurs at the local level with a focus of lessening discrimination and improving the rights of people with disabilities. [Advocacy and Lobbying]
  12. DPO networks are facilitated and strengthened to ensure the participation of PWDs in mainstream development activities. [Formation and Capacity Building of DPOs]
  13. The capacity of already-existing Disabled Peoples' Organizations is strengthened through the "Disabled People's Organization's Capacity Building for Replicating PSID across the Country" project. [Formation and Capacity Building of DPOs]
  14. Appropriate infrastructure and logistics are provided for local organizations. [Training and Resource Centers]

In addition to activities carried out at the field level, BPKS Headquarters runs specific activitiesat the national level to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery. These include:

  1. Emergency support activities are undertaken in response to the natural disasters - such as floods, cyclones and severe cold spells - that occur in Bangladesh. [Emergency support activities]
  2. Project management activities, including project design, monitoring and evaluation, implementation coordination, are undertaken to ensure effective operations and resource management (human and financial) of BPKS projects.
